Applied Math Career Post on Dynamical Systems Web Magazine

I am a big fan of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), because they connect mathematicians to the outside world, using conferences, journals, and really nice cross-disciplinary publications. Plus, they have a lot of networking opportunities for students, one of which was how I met the folks behind the Math Climate Research Network. One part of the SIAM membership is being a part of SIAM activity groups, which each tend to have specialty conferences and individual journals and publications.

I currently belong to the Dynamical Systems group, which publishes a quarterly web magazine. This month they featured a post by an employee of Scimatic Software. This post is interesting because the author advocates the training of grad students for careers other than academia, and he outlines his own experience with working in the business world.

There are always other interesting things on the site, like job postings, book reviews, and expository articles on various topics. The link is below, if you’d like to take a look.
